Dani Scavone is a Florida native brought to Charleston via military life! A Coast Guard wife and mom of 3, Dani works full-time in marketing while running her own small agency, Rock.Love.Social, LLC. Rock Love’s main mission? To build a brand that you love on social media! When Dani’s not running a marketing department, writing blogs, creating email campaigns, or working on social, you can find her hanging out with family and her fur babies, cooking, or traveling to the nearest rock festival or concert!
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
We’re a military family with 3 kiddos ages 16, 14, and 3.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
Hailing from the University of Florida and specializing in sociology, I found myself first in education before transitioning into the coworking industry. There, I mingled with like-minded entrepreneurs and small businesses across the globe! From operations to marketing I fell in love with entrepreneurship from the very beginning. Thus began the creative flow that inspired me to create and found my own business, Rock Love Social. I love working with people, especially helping people bring their social media visions to life! From community engagement to organic website traffic – you can usually find me researching the newest marketing trends and building great relationships with my clients!
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Oh, that is a hard one! I love to eat! haha. I should probably visit more great restaurants downtown but overall I like to stick to North Charleston. I love Park Circle and pizza so I give kudos to both EVO and Park Circle Pizza for keeping it 100%. Italian is my favorite, so for a nice sit down dinner I suggest Wild Olive– hands down best ever!
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
Almost 2 years. As mentioned, I’m a military wifey! I tend to move every 2 – 3 years which means I’m constantly putting down new roots and making new friends. Thankfully, it’s not a hard task for me. I enjoy connecting with people and have made some AMAZING friendships and partnerships here in Charleston.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Shout out to Rain Fuller Photography! Rain is so creative and fun, plus she is such a genuine and nice person to work with.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Italy!!! It’s on my bucket list and hopefully on mine and my husband’s horizon! Our last name is Scavone… that should tell you a lot! My husband’s family is from Italy originally, so for my husband it means learning more about his heritage in a real way! For me, moral support, food, and WINE – oh and seeing all of the amazing sights will be NICE!
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Also not fair! I love so many! One movie that always come to mind is Practical Magic. The story of a magical family that doesn’t quite fit in. Love story meets powerful women! It has such a great message, and I will always love it. One of my favorite quotes is from this movie: “My darling girl, when are you going to realize that being normal is not necessarily a virtue? It rather denotes a lack of courage!”
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Be yourself! We live in a time where everyone is so heavily influenced (Trust me, I know… working in marketing is my job). But at the end of the day no matter what, people appreciate authenticity. Being authentic in your personal life, professional life, and being true to YOU! Let that shine; it’s what sets YOU apart.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I have a huge bucket list, but one my husband and I discuss often is all the bands and music festivals we want to go to! Seeing Elton John is definitely on my bucket list as well as a few other Hall of Fame artists! I’ve seen a lot, so my list has gotten shorter over the years.
Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?
Oh no… this could also become a very long list! I love classic rock, but I also love music from the 90’s (To be honest, I love it all). Go to band for rocking out??? Guns N Roses. Favorite band for chilling out– don’t laugh– Dashboard Confessionals.
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Oh that is easy! The Station in Park Circle! I could spend HOURS in that place! Want amazing local jewelry? Go there. A Vintage Barbie case or old amazing vinyls? Go there!
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Probably Emma Chamberlain – She’s a podcast host (Anything goes with Emma Chamberlain). I love all of her topics! Everything from being self-employed to the real DL on being a Mom. I just love how relatable she is. I feel like having lunch with her would be the BEST therapy session ever! I’d probably take her to downtown Charleston and we could just walk until we find a place we both think would be amazing!
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Everyone is so welcoming! I love that. I haven’t met anyone I haven’t liked. I think gathering for food and drinks is perfect, and it’s a main staple here in the Low Country.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
That’s hard to say. I have no idea where I’ll be living, but I do know this: my goal is to have Rock.Love.Social still running and catering to the Greater Charleston Area! The great part about being in Social Media Marketing… I can take it anywhere and still stay in touch!
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I’m a homebody. I’m most comfortable in my sweatpants with my loved ones with a nice hot drink in my hand. I can get out and dress up with the best of them– but I’m really a very quiet person at home, and I enjoy simple things.
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Iceland. It’s gorgeous. I stayed in Reykjavik at this adorable boutique hotel right above a bakery and would enjoy the nearby restaurants and water. During the day I went and saw the most amazing waterfalls; it’s truly breathtaking. I swear I was instantly healthier by just being there and breathing the air. Plus I got my wish to see the northern lights. It’s an experience I wish I could share with everyone.
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
Easy. October. I love fall. I love the leaves, the cool air, bon fires, and my favorite holiday is Halloween. Each year my family and I go all out dressing up! Don’t believe me? You can check my Instagram! Best single day on the calendar? The first day of October – it just hits different.
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
After a long day of work, coming home to a spotless house, dinner on the table, clean/healthy children, and a bubble bath with wine = 10/10.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My family and my friends! I’m surrounded by some amazing people, and I am so grateful for them.
Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
Pumpkin Spice (I said what I said) and fresh cut grass and bbq – reminds me of home.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Cozy, familiar, safe.
