Liz Veach’s family moved to Charleston when she was in the first grade. In 2015, Liz and her husband bought their first house in Avondale and have been there since. She loves living in West Ashley and not being too far from downtown, the beach, parks, and great restaurants. Liz has been a hair stylist for almost 16 years and feels so lucky to have found a career that she loves. When she’s not working on hair, Liz enjoys a wide variety of activities, including painting acrylic abstracts, walking her dogs, biking the greenway, gardening, going to the beach, working on house projects, decorating, shopping, cooking/grilling, trying new restaurants, and traveling.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I’ve been married to my amazing husband Hank for 3 years and together for 10. We have two rescue mutts, Bodie and Ozzy. Most of my family is in California and Louisiana, but Hank’s family is mostly all still here!
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I’m a hair stylist specializing in cutting and low maintenance coloring techniques. My goal is to make every one of my client’s hair as low maintenance as possible while bringing out their best features through hair shaping, color tone, and placement. There are so many things I love about my career, but seeing someone smile when the cutting cape comes off probably tops the list!
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Currently Chasing Sage, Maison, and 167 Raw Sushi. Looking forward to trying Lenoir as well!
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I’ve lived here since 1990 and worked here since I was 15. I’ve kinda lived all over the area – first IOP and later Mt. Pleasant when I was in 8th grade. James Island for a couple of years and downtown for about 12 years. Malibu and New Orleans very briefly in between Charleston homes. But I’ve been in my current home in West Ashley for 7 years now.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Australia. I think I’d really like the lifestyle. Plus it looks gorgeous. Anywhere with beaches and mountains count me in!
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Dateline. I’ve seen every episode. Also Don’t Tell Her It’s Me was super cheesy but so good. It was filmed in Charleston in 1989. It was interesting to see bits of the old Charleston again.
