Originally from Metro Atlanta, Tony DeShan decided to call Charleston home 6 years ago after a wonderful family visit here in the Lowcountry! The charm of Charleston as well as the available territory for Mathnasium prompted Tony to move his family from big city Atlanta to quaint and relaxing Charleston.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My wife Whitney was a teacher for many years. We have 4 kids- 3 boys and 1 girl! Our family time includes beach/pool days, park walks, and outdoor activities like baseball games and fishing!
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
Before starting Mathnasium of Mount Pleasant, I was in the financial services and banking industry. Having also previously been a coach, I always enjoyed working with kids and thought education would be a more fulfilling long term career. After researching opportunities to combine both my experience in finance and coaching, I found the Mathnasium franchise and opened our Mount Pleasant location in 2014. After the success of Mount Pleasant, I expanded with my business partner to now a total of 3 locations – Mtp, Sville, Charleston. What I love most about what I do is that I get to interact with people, work with kids, and see the transformations and positive impact our business can have on a child’s career and life.
