Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I’m a single mom of a 15 year old gifted son and 16 year old dog.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
What I love about what I do is that God has given me a gift that’s allowed me to heal through music since the age of 15. It brings me so much joy knowing that when I step on the stage, my singing may touch someone who is going through a rough time or even needs uplifting. I used to question “Why me, God?” when I would be going through my own personal struggles but still had to give 100% of myself on stage. It wasn’t until I took a break years ago and did some self reflection and inner work on myself that I realized my mission is to heal through my music and change lives. Music is a universal language that we all can take something away from no matter what language we speak, and I’m so very thankful He chose me to do this work.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
I love Shrimp & Grits Restaurant at the Food Court in Citadel Mall, Nigel’s Soul Food in North Charleston, and Basil Thai Food Restaurant.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I relocated from Harleyville, SC in 1998. My work in the community began when I was 10 years old, and I haven’t stopped since. There’s so much more work to be done. It takes a village and unity.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
I meet so many interesting people, so I can’t exactly name just one person. What I love about people is we all have a story and something unique to contribute in the world, so when I meet people, I take bits and pieces from our encounter and use it for positive.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
If I could travel anywhere in the world right now it would definitely be Bali.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
I love reality TV– any and all reality TV. LOL

Q: What advice would you give to people?
The advice I would give people is to watch the words you use and speak. Leave the negative thoughts alone because the Universe has a way of giving us what we speak, so make your words count so that you can create the life that you want to live. Keep vibrating higher and manifest all that you could ever imagine. Stay tapped in, tuned in and turned on.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
One thing on my bucket list is to own and operate my own music & arts/trade school for gifted children and teach them the proper life skills to succeed in this world.

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?
I love Gospel Artist Todd Dulaney. His music is amazing, and it takes me to a place of worship that I can’t explain.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Grit & Grace Studio located on King St. owned by my friend Rachel Gordon. It’s homegrown filled with local nostalgic handmade pieces.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

OMG. It would definitely be Britney Spears. I would have our food catered by Carolina’s. I remember years ago we used to rehearse in the same building in Los Angeles and just from that little time spent I could tell she was really cool. I wouldn’t even want to talk industry talk, I would just want to encourage her to keep fighting & build her confidence. She’s so deserving and an icon. #freebritneyspears

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Theres a sense of an unspoken togetherness that resonates around the city that can’t be broken. We speak to each other without knowing one another. We even tend to spark up conversations in the checkout line just from a simple hello. This is what I love about living in Charleston. I have yet to find that anyplace else.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
In 5 to 10 years I see myself still making music that matters and that heals and also becoming a venue owner to showcase talent that goes unnoticed.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
Something people don’t know about me is my obsession with watching Youtube videos. I spend a lot of time watching Youtube on my phone. I’d like to say I am a student of Youtube University. Haha!

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
The most beautiful place I’ve ever been is Prague. The cobblestone streets reminded me of Downtown Charleston. The architecture was beautiful. The food was amazing.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
December is my favorite month because it’s my birthday month and Christmas. The best single day on the Calendar is my birthday, Dec. 27, and yes I’ve always gotten 2 gifts because it’s the right thing to do. I did not ask to be born around Christmas time! Haha!

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
I would rate Southern Hospitality 10 out of 10. You can’t and won’t find it anywhere else in the world.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
