Reverend Don Johnson

Reverend Don Johnson was born in Emporia, VA. His father was in the US Navy for 34 years. Likewise, Don served in the US Army from 1982-1986 after graduating from Robert W Traip Academy in Kittery Maine. As a graduate of Jump School, he served with the 4th Infantry Division out of Ft Carson Co. In 1990 Don moved to Summerville and has been here ever since. Don is a Bi-Vocational Associate Pastor at Harbour Lake Baptist Church in Goose Creek; a Team Leader of the Chick Fil A of Summerville; and the Council Chaplain, Unit Commissioner, and the Assistant Council Commissioner for Sea Scouts for the Coastal Carolina Council, BSA.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I married my best friend Laura in 1993.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I am a graduate of Liberty University; in 2012 I earned a B.S. in Religion and in 2016 I was conferred with a Master of Divinity. I was also licensed in 2012 and Ordained in the Southern Baptist Convention in 2016. I am currently a doctorate candidate working towards my Doctor of Theology. Additionally, I have been a general manager of McDonalds, Cracker Barrel, and Pizza Hut. I currently am a minister and work for Chick Fil A. I love being a pastor and helping people.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
My favorite restaurants are Cuppa Manna and Benny Mazzetto’s.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Scotland because I would love to see the Highlands

Movie: Midway (1976 version) TV Show: Big Bang Theory

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Treat others as you want to be treated.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I would to go to Philmont Scout Reservation.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Guerin’s Drugstore

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Brian Kelly, Coach of Notre Dame Football. I love ND Fighting Irish Football. I would take him to Cuppa Manna.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Retired

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I cry during Hallmark movies.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
The Garden of Gethsemane, Jerusalem Israel, sitting under the olive trees

December the 25th: I love anything Christmas.
