Tierra Polite was born and raised in downtown Charleston. A graduate of Burke High School class of 2001, she received her Bachelors of Business Administration from Limestone College. Tierra has been serving the Charleston community for over 20 years as a licensed cosmetologist, registered instructor, salon owner, REALTOR®, and beauty school owner.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I am the middle child of 3. I have an older brother (Jacques) and baby sister (Annie). My grandparents had 13 kids, so I come from a large family.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I love the impact that I’m able to make in the lives of other people. I believe that inside every man is the destiny of another man– one of my favorite quotes from my pastor. Working behind the chair and through education has definitely opened many doors for me and others.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A few of my favorites would include Oscar’s, B’s Soul Creations, and Page’s Okra Grill.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have lived in our community for 39 years.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I would take my kids to Italy (that’s where my oldest son wants to go).

Live!!! We are here for a good time not a long time!!
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Tyler Perry because he is one of the people that inspires and motivates me. Watching his interviews really gives me hope!
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Something unique about our community is all the hidden gems.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
In 5 to 10 years I see myself retired and enjoying family.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
Most people don’t know that I’m a crybaby.

Favorite month: May. Favorite holiday: Christmas.
