Nicole Hernandez

Born and raised in the lowcountry, Nicole Hernandez will tell you she was blessed to grow up and cultivate her perspective in such a historic, environmental, and diverse location. She is amazed by the way that different environments effect our view of the world, an effect she often gets to observe being only a short drive away from Hilton Head or Savannah. Nicole lives by the phrase “work hard to get to where you are aiming for.” One of the ways she has embodied this motto is by graduating College of Charleston with a bachelors in Marketing and starting a marketing position in real estate with The Chris Facello Group.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I was raised by both parents, my dad, who was a hard working entrepreneur, and my mother, who nurtured our family as a stay at home mom.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I’m still in the beginning stages of developing my career path; however, I’m always excited to learn in any role. From my past jobs in retail to my future jobs in the marketing field, I’m ready to see what my career path holds.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
I don’t have many, but Kanpai Japanese Restaurant comes to mind. Kanpai has a great selection of sushi and Korean entrees to try. Another is Nothing Bundt Cakes. This one is more for treating my sweet tooth with something that hits just right.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I came here for college in the fall of 2019 so almost four whole years. I am excited to stay longer and see what Charleston shows me.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
I have met a lot of interesting people working retail here, so there is not just one person that stands out…for now.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Before I would have said Europe, but now I would say Central and South America. I want to see my extended family again after so many years and see the ancient historical sights.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
My most recent would be Wednesday because of the mix of dark comedy and mystery.

There is still so much for me to experience, but the one thing I would say is, “don’t put yourself in a box; taste a little bit of freedom once in a while.”

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Skydiving! It’s one of those out-there things that would be great to talk about and say “I did that.”

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?
It’s between two artists: Raise Against, a rock band for when I need a rush of energy, and BIBI, an R&B Korean/American artist for when I want to be calm.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
For me it would be Condon’s Bridal Boutique. I have good memories from coming here with my mom to look for her wedding dress as well as other family friends who bought from them.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
I don’t really have a specific person, but I would love to meet one of Harvard Business school’s marketing department professors. We would go to Fleet Landing by the pier downtown to discuss the trajectory of new marketing online.

I love how no matter where you go in the downtown metropolitan area, you can always find a new business to check out.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Still living in Charleston, having more marketing experience, and possibly having my own clients as a freelancer.
