Shelby is a fun and optimistic retiree who moved here to be close to family. She strives to create environments in which her community can gather and everyone can enjoy themselves!
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My daughter is a Charlestonian and the reason I moved here. I have two wonderful and bright grandchildren, a fun golf-centric husband, and a son who loves the wilderness.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Halls, of course – everything, not just the steaks. The customer service is exceptional! Wild Olive on John’s Island – great food, great service. Zen again for the sushi and customer service.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
10 years – the biggest difference is things are slower here; even in the checkout lines we were having conversations. And of course the weather.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
I don’t know if anyone stands out, but I enjoy Charleston. A lot of nice people.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Italy – the food, the culture
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Anything Hallmark
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Find a job that makes you happy, because you are going to be doing it for a long time. I was a teacher and loved every moment of it.

To travel again

The history and that there is so much to do in Charleston
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I used to be introvert, which people, including my husband, do not believe.
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Bermuda – the water is so clear, and it is relaxing.
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love May, and Mother’s Day, because my son comes to visit.

I inspire myself. I want to be the best I can be– the best friend to my friends.

Fresh baked bread and the smell of coffee

Safe, comfortable, pretty. All in all, relaxing.
