Christine England

Christine England is a self-proclaimed extroverted introvert, who wants to use her voice to uplift the individuals and businesses in the community around her. Passionate about guiding others to better themselves and find success, Christine always knew she was destined to help, and her various careers have allowed her to do just that. On March 18, 2020 her life flipped upside down when she decided to start Lowcountry Eat Out! (formerly Lowcountry Quarantine Take-out and Delivery) and went back to opening up an event business.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I’m from RI, and the only girl of 4 kids. Currently, I live in the HEART of the Lowcountry, Hanahan (literally we are centrally located to everything), with my husband and 2 dogs Maddi and Koonya.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
My background is in events and experiential marketing (basically bringing brands to life for consumers to interact with them). When I moved to Charleston I left that behind for real estate. During the pandemic I opened up Pampas + Picnics, a more intimate event company focusing on pop-up picnics and special occasions.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
I think when running a food group you are supposed to plead the 5th on this question. LOL. Breakfast I am torn between Daps (downtown) and Acme on IOP. Dinner I would say The Shellmore is a hole in the wall favorite, and I really have been loving Ville Sainte recently!

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I had the opportunity to travel here for work a couple times in 2013, but I moved here in 2015.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Elliot Middleton may be one of my most favorite people. He just works and gives, then works and gives some more. If the world had more people like him, we would be a better place.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Eeeekkkk that is tough! I will go anywhere, but I would have to say France to see family.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Don’t laugh, but I am not a huge tv or movie person. Like I really couldn’t care less. I would have to say anything football or The Masked Singer.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
LISTEN! People are so busy with having the answer and being right that they forget the part to listen and read between the lines when needed.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I am pretty much a “if I want to, its happening” person, so my bucket list isn’t that long. Kind of like what do you buy the person who has everything. I need to finish visiting the last 3 states in the US so I have all 50. And I’d like to start a successful non-profit that makes a true community impact.

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?
ALL THINGS 90’s and early 2000’s R&B/HIP HOP

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
I think I am still learning this. Lowcountry Eat Out has opened my eyes to so many places that are local and not PR driven… ask me this in another year.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson… the dude makes everything turn to gold. I want to start a non-profit, and he seems like a smart guy to talk to. I would probably probably take him to Chubby Fish.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I love telling people to visit the Provost Building and do the dungeon tour. It fascinates me that it was once waterfront.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Running an impactful non-profit and curating events.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I once had my middle toe almost completely severed off. Which– when you think about how hard that is to happen– it’s kind of nuts!

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
I lived in Alaska. Nothing beats it. Winter or summer.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
June – it’s my birthday! Favorite holiday has always been Thanksgiving (it’s Christmas without gifts). And the best single day on the calendar is my birthday, June 3rd.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Nothing. There is always room to improve.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My bestie

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
Anything fall

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Calm (x3)
